The Qatar Sprint has just wrapped up, with Oscar Piastri back to winning ways and closing in on the championship — here’s everything that went down!

How the Sprint Race unfolded

Piastri held the lead through Turn 1, with Russell in P2 and Norris fending off Yuki Tsunoda, who later let his teammate through. Fernando Alonso dropped two places and finished sixth.

Kimi Antonelli held seventh, with Carlos Sainz eighth and Isack Hadjar ninth. Alexander Albon rounded out the top ten, while Charles Leclerc slipped out of the top ten to thirteenth.

Lewis Hamilton came in eighteenth, having started from the pit lane alongside the two Alpines and Lance Stroll.

The Australian kept Russell at bay behind him, while Verstappen applied pressure throughout the race on the championship leader, who managed to stay calm and avoid any mistakes.

Tsunoda, meanwhile, put in a strong performance. After giving way to his teammate as expected, he held his ground and crossed the line in the top five, but a five-second track limits penalty initially dropped him out of the top five, promoting Antonelli. However, Antonelli later received a five-second penalty at the end of the race, allowing Tsunoda to reclaim fifth place.

Piastri thus picked up two valuable championship points over his teammate, moving back into sole possession of second in the standings, while Verstappen lost a point to Norris, who can still be fairly satisfied with his race.

Another forgettable race for Ferrari, with both cars finishing outside the top ten and failing to score any points.
