Oscar Piastri still expects full support and equal treatment from McLaren, despite Lando Norris having won the championship.

“He’s obviously had a great season this year and a deserving champion, but he’s still Lando Norris, it’s not like he’s become Superman”

The Australian, among the three battling for the title until the final race, is undoubtedly the one left most burned by this season’s finale, finishing third in the drivers’ championship after leading the standings for a remarkable fifteen races.

Piastri acknowledged the huge achievement of his teammate, who claimed his first-ever World Championship, but he doesn’t expect it to change anything within the team.

“He’s obviously had a great season this year and a deserving champion, but he’s still Lando Norris, it’s not like he’s become Superman,” he said.

“I don’t think things will change. I'm expecting, obviously, full fairness from the team and equality going forward. I don’t have any concern that that will change at all. Lando’s had a very strong season this year and ultimately did a better job.”

Piastri draws bittersweet conclusions after title loss to 'deserving' Norris

The Australian made an early statement with a bold move on his teammate through Turn 9, but he couldn’t find a way past Max Verstappen for the win and ultimately ended the year third in the standings.

Against expectations, the Dutchman didn’t bunch up the field to shake things up — a choice that ultimately worked in Norris’s favour, helping him clinch the championship despite crossing the line in third.

Even so, the Australian took the outcome in stride, showing real sportsmanship as he congratulated his teammate on becoming world champion.
