Luke Browning claims victory in the F2 feature race at Monza, a contest marked by multiple twists and several safety car periods, including incidents involving Arvid Lindblad.
Browning got off to a strong start from pole but later had to yield to Oliver Goethe. Championship leader Leonardo Fornaroli had a turbulent start and lost part of his front wing.
The opening laps of the race were chaotic, with the field tightly packed and several front wings damaged. By the end of lap two, championship contender Richard Verschoor had dropped back to 13th place.
The Dutchman was among the first of the championship contenders to pit. However, he was unlucky when Alex Dunne was taken out by Arvid Lindblad, which brought out a safety car and pushed Verschoor further down the order.
Just a lap after the restart, another safety car appeared when Cian Shields spun before the field had properly settled. At the first chicane, Lindblad—now without a front wing—crashed into Roman Stanek’s car, while Victor Martins also retired.
Lindblad’s car had sustained too much damage, forcing him to retire. Since he was responsible for both incidents, he will receive a grid penalty for the next race. The chaos continued when Sami Meguetounif retired, bringing out yet another safety car.
After the final safety car period, Verschoor had to battle hard to recover. He made solid progress and eventually crossed the line in eighth. Championship leader Fornaroli finished ahead of him in fifth, while Browning took the win at the checkered flag.
