For Ralf Schumacher the mirky situation at Alpine is telling, and Oliver Oakes departure, which has left Flavio Briatore at the helm of the French team, was something the flamboyant Italian had 'no problems' with. For Alpine it's been ruckus after ruckus, first with Franco Colapinto replacing Jack Doohan and then with the shocking exit of team principal, Oakes, due to his brother's - and close business partner - arrest. And that's only in the six Grand Prix that've been run so far this season.
For veteran fans Briatore has always had an 'outrageous' feel to him, with winning always being of paramount importance. So much so that the Italian rigged a race by instructing Nelson Piquet Jr., to crash his Renault car into the wall so teammate Fernando Alonso could win the race.
This crash, the then Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa, believes was instrumental in his losing of the title to Lewis Hamilton later on in the season.

'Flavio always does his own thing'
According to the former
F1 driver, Oakes' departure was not exactly something that bothered Briatore.
"Flavio will always do his own thing. That's also why Oliver Oakes left. He couldn't deal with the behind-the-scenes communication and heavy-handedness. Flavio had no problem with Oakes leaving", he stated on the German branch of
Sky Sports.
"From what I've heard, Flavio does everything himself. I hope that's not really the case. In his role and with his experience, he has done fantastic work, but as a team principal, he is too old to be actively involved in the organisation every day."
