Arvid Lindblad has done something in a Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car
that no one has ever done before, with the young talent from
the Austrian team driving an RB7 in a football stadium and doing something
quite special there. In the football stadium of Leeds United, Elland Road, Lindblad drove
his RB7 and scored a penalty with the Formula 1 car. "The
first Formula 1 car to score a penalty in a Premier League stadium,"
was the caption Red Bull UK added under the video.
Not long ago, Red Bull also released a video where three Leeds United players took
on a Formula 1 car in a sprint challenge. The outcome of that race was hardly a
surprise: Wilfried Gnonto, Largie Ramazani, and Isaac Schmidt were not as
fast as the Red Bull car Lindblad was in.
Ramazani only had
kind words about the lost challenge. "
This was fantastic. If we could do this every day, I would absolutely do it! The only thing that could
make it better is if I could drive the F1 car myself!"
Arvid Lindblad currently sits in P3 in the Formula 2 standings in his first season in the junior formula category after taking his first victory in the Spanish Grand Prix feature race.
Lindblad can officially race in Formula 1
Last week,
Lindblad obtained his superlicense, which allows him now to also race in the pinnacle of motorsport. Red
Bull immediately added the talent to the team so he could be a potential
stand-in for Max Verstappen if the Dutchman received a penalty point at the Canadian Grand Prix that would have resulted in a race ban.
Lindblad is often seen as 'the new Verstappen.' Johnny
Herbert, former Formula 1 driver and former FIA steward, even believes
that he has the potential to become
better than the four-time and reigning
Formula 1 world champion.
"Is there anyone who could be better than
Verstappen? Yes. Could that be Lindblad? Why not, but it only becomes real when you're sitting in a seat next to Max, when he's on the other side of the
garage."
