Ralf Schumacher believes Fernando Alonso is still capable of winning the drivers' title in 2026.

"Why not? I think he’s still driving the car himself. With Lewis, you sometimes get the feeling that the car is driving him."

In 2026, it will be the 25th anniversary of Alonso's Formula 1 debut. The Spaniard will turn 45 years old in July.

According to Schumacher, the two-time world champion can still battle for a Formula 1 title.

Speaking to F1-Insider, the German explained: "Why not? I think he’s still driving the car himself. With Lewis, you sometimes get the feeling that the car is driving him.

"Fernando seems relaxed, even when he gets out of the race car. Experience helps too, and Fernando has plenty of it. He’s super motivated."

The former Williams and Toyota driver added with a smile: "And you can’t tell that he’s 44 years old—he doesn’t even have gray hair. I’d be happy for him."

Alonso is certain of Aston Martin's success

The Spaniard explained that he knows his team will succeed in Formula 1, the only question is how long that will take.

He explained: "Facilities are new, people are just a few months into the system, [whether] it will be enough this few months or we need one full season to glue everything together, that's the thing, I don't know.

"Aston Martin will succeed, I think it's, for me, a guarantee. The biggest question is when and that's what we all try to make it [happen] as soon as possible."
