Since retiring from Formula 1 in 2022, Sebastian Vettel has largely stepped away from the motorsports spotlight. However, speculations continue to link him with a return to Red Bull Racing. Addressing these rumours, Red Bull chief Helmut Marko has shared his thoughts on Vettel's possible return in an interview with F1-Insider.
Marko was quizzed about a possible return for Vettel to the Red Bull team. The 82-year-old, however, clearly stated that this was not an issue. "The whole thing didn't go any further because we had more than enough to do with the team restructuring at Red Bull Racing. And it's a full-time job, you can't just do it for a few races. I don't think the requirements profile from our side is suitable for him."
Marko was, of course, referring to the departure of Christian Horner, who was replaced at Red Bull by Laurent Mekies. Mekies made an instant impact, guiding the team to a Sprint victory at Spa with Max Verstappen in his very first race weekend. However, the team has faced a more challenging outing in Hungary. McLaren was again very dominant, and Red Bull was far behind on Friday. In the first free practice, Max Verstappen finished ninth, and he was only fourteenth in the second free practice.
