F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff has provided an update on the conflict-of-interest case involving her husband Toto.
"I refused to be treated that way. It created a huge amount of articles doubting my integrity"- Susie Wolff
Speaking in an interview with The Times, Susie said: "I refused to be treated that way. It created a huge amount of articles doubting my integrity."
"People can have their opinions on (whether) what I do is good or not, but that’s something I won’t allow to happen, that people attack my integrity."
In December 2023, the FIA announced that it would conduct an investigation through its compliance department to assess a potential conflict of interest involving Susie and Toto Wolff, following media speculation suggesting that confidential information might have been exchanged between the two.
The concern arose due to their respective positions — Susie Wolff serving as Managing Director of F1 Academy, and Toto Wolff as Mercedes’ Team Principal and CEO.
However, nine out of the ten Formula 1 teams publicly sided with the Wolffs, distancing themselves from the reports. Within just 48 hours, the FIA backtracked and confirmed that no formal investigation would be pursued.
That, however, did not stop Susie from reacting. She stated that she felt her reputation had been damaged by the allegations and, a few months later, announced that she had filed a criminal complaint in France against the FIA.
Since then, the case has largely faded from the media spotlight but continues to progress behind the scenes.
