Max Verstappen demonstrated two weeks ago that his speed isn't confined to just a Formula 1 car. During a test in a GT3 car on the Nordschleife he set a lap record on his very first laps around the track. This sparked criticism because Verstappen was driving a different type of car.
The team principal of Emil Frey, Lorenz Frey-Hilti, made it clear in an interview with motorsport.com and quickly silenced these rumors. ‘’Everyone was talking about us driving with a completely different BoP[Balance of Performance], but we actually adhered to the NLS setup[Nurburgring Endurance Series].’’ With the BoP, the WEC hopes to bring the field closer together.

First time for Frey at the Nordschleife with a Ferrari

For the team principal, it was the first time with a Ferrari at the Nordschleife. This provided interesting insights for the Swiss. ‘’We hadn't been to the Nordschleife with a Ferrari before. We went with the basic setup. We have a lot of staff with experience at the Nordschleife, but not with the Ferrari. So, it was a good, educational day for us. We tried different settings, and it's fantastic to see the best driver in the world giving feedback.’’
Verstappen is very active outside of Formula 1. The Dutchman is known for his extensive sim racing and also owns a (sim)racing team, Redline. He is also active in the GT3 world with Verstappen.com. The world champion has often stated that he would like to be involved in endurance racing after his F1 career.
The possibility of participating in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring is definitely an option according to Frey-Hilti, but there is a process involved: ‘’We don't know, that's still completely open. There are rules he needs to comply with. I don't know if there are possibilities for him to visit the Nordschleife again soon.’’
