Friday saw the rain steer clear of the Baku City Circuit despite there being potential showers hitting the capital of Azerbaijan.

However, plenty of clouds and wind hung around the circuit, which is expected to be a theme for the rest of the weekend.

Potential rain on Saturday

For Saturday, the chance of rain remains at 40%, with potential showers expected just before FP3 gets underway at 12:30pm local time. Highs of 21 degrees are expected when the session comes to an end.

Along with the potential of rain, the winds are expected to pick up once again, with an average speed reaching 15 to 25 kph, while gusts are expected to hit 30 to 40 kph..

Qualifying in the afternoon is expected to be mostly dry as the chance of rain lowers to less than 20%. Skies expected to be cloudy with some sun.

Once again, there will be plenty of wind whipping through Baku, with an average of 30 to 40 kph wind speed expected. The gusts will increase from earlier in the day, with 60 to 80 kph gusts potentially causing several problems for teams and drivers come the end of qualifying.

The temperature for Saturday's timed session is expected to be 21 degrees Celsius, with the temperature dropping compared to Friday's running in the Azerbaijan capital.

Sunday will see similar conditions to qualifying for the Grand Prix, with a 20% chance of rain predicted alongside cloudy conditions, with some potential sunny spells.

A very low track temperature of 28 degrees Celsius is expected, while Baku is expected to reach 21 degrees Celsius at 3pm local time.

Once again, as is the theme for this weekend, there will be some strong winds hitting the track that teams and drivers must accommodate, with 20 to 30 kph wind speed and gusts of up to 50 to 60 kph.

Verstappen's sights set on Baku challenge

After an unexpected and dominant win at Monza, Max Verstappen is ready for the challenge in Baku, aiming to secure another strong result and continue Red Bull’s recent positive momentum following the summer break.

"We are now back to the flyaways in Baku and it is always a bit more of a challenge on the street circuit," the Dutchman said.

"The combination of low-speed corners and the long main straight means you have to find a compromise in the setup, and it is about getting the right rear wing level as well. Hopefully we can take this positive form into this week and make sure we perform well in Qualifying too."
