Max Verstappen did not attend the media day in Miami on Thursday as he was needed at home due to the upcoming arrival of his child with Piquet. Red Bull Racing confirmed the delay in a short statement but confirmed the Dutchman's presence in Miami for the Grand Prix weekend. As of now, the Dutchman appears to be en route to Florida, having departed from Nice in his jet a few hours ago.
First Child for Verstappen
"Max isn't at the circuit today," Schumacher says in his Instagram video.
"Fortunately, his reason is that he's becoming a father. I think he wants to focus on his family for now. So from us: all the best and much success. Hopefully, everything goes well today."
Schumacher then discussed his expectations of Lewis Hamilton for the Miami Grand Prix. "I, of course, hope it goes better for him."
Verstappen will be in action during the first free practice for the Miami Grand Prix on Friday. The Dutchman is now en route to America, and GPblog had already reported that Verstappen would be there for the race weekend no matter what.
More information on mini Verstappen-Piquet will soon follow.
