George Russell, Max Verstappen and Andrea Kimi Antonelli all had their say on Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris's crash at the Canadian Grand Prix that saw the latter retire from the race.
Antonelli saw the incident between Piastri and Norris occur in his mirrors as they tangled up on the start-finish behind him, seeing how the McLaren drivers did not give each other space, resulting in Norris crashing into the wall.

After the race, in which Antonelli finished on the F1 podium for the first time, the 18-year-old watched the incident back in the cool-down room, together with winner George Russell and Max Verstappen, who finished in P2.
Firstly, Antonelli saw the whole battle unfold behind him, questioning who to give the slipstream to down the back straight as Norris and Piastri went side-by-side going into the 'Wall of Champions' chicane.
Then, down the start/finish straight, the incident occurred, and together, they concluded that Norris had fully brought the accident upon himself. "There was not really a gap there, was there?" said Russell, looking at the large screen.

Verstappen thankful for the barriers

The Brit was then the first to mention that the incident was what looked like a carbon copy of an earlier incident involving Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in 2011, with two McLarens colliding back then.
Verstappen, for one, was relieved that 'fortunately the barrier was there', as in the Red Bull Racing driver's view, a bigger crash could have occurred if Norris had tried to overtake Piastri on the grass.
Norris, due to his crash and subsequent retirement, lost valuable points in the title battle, with the Brit seeing his teammate extend his lead in the world championship by collecting 12 points after the race ended under the safety car.
With Russell and Verstappen taking P1 and P2, respectively, both drivers also closed the gap at the top of the drivers' standings, with Verstappen now 43 points behind championship leader Piastri, while also being 21 points away from Norris in P2.
