Gabriel Bortoleto compared Max Verstappen to Ayrton Senna. According to the Formula 1 rookie, the reigning world champion in the pinnacle of motor sports comes incredibly close to perfection. He is compared by Bortoleto to countryman Senna.
“I think Max has a very unique driving style, he works a lot with telemetry,” Bortoleto started in an interview with GloboTV.
“If you watch a pole lap of his, it really comes close to perfection. I consider him (Max Verstappen) one of the best drivers in history.''
''He is a four-time world champion. I don't want to compare anyone with each other, but he definitely belongs to the best Formula 1 drivers ever. Certainly up there with Senna, Hamilton and Schumacher.”
He won three world championships (1988, 1990 and 1991) and was known for his incredible speed, especially in wet conditions and during qualifications. During the San Marino Grand Prix, Senna tragically lost his life. He was only 34 years old. For Verstappen too, it's an honor to be compared to such an iconic driver.
Yet, no matter how good Verstappen becomes, Senna will always remain Bortoleto's childhood hero. "These are different generations. My idol has always been Ayrton Senna and that will always remain the case.''
''I grew up with stories about him as a racer. He was exceptional and ahead of his time. For me, there will never be anyone like him.''
Finally, he added: ''In today's world, with all the technological advancements and data analysis, we can learn and improve a lot. Everything is about details, much more than 30 years ago," concluded the Brazilian driver from Sauber.
