Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are asked to report to the stewards' office at 5:15 p.m. This due to an incident that occurred between the two drivers during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Verstappen was making his way through the field, having lost many places due to an early pit stop and ended up in traffic. Once he arrived at P12, Verstappen had a familiar rival ahead of him: Lewis Hamilton. The Ferrari driver was also teetering on the edge of the top ten, after a disappointing qualifying on Saturday.
Verstappen came hard into turn four and overtook Hamilton on the inside, but did not give the Brit an inch of space. Hamilton went wide and ended up off the track. Neither of the drivers could be heard on the radio – at least not during the broadcast – but whether the incident is brushed off remains to be seen. The stewards have announced that the incident will be investigated after the completion of the race.
By now, Verstappen and Hamilton are on their way to the stewards, where they are to report at 5:15 p.m. Verstappen will have to account for his actions, which received mixed opinions - some saw it as a racing incident, while others felt that the Dutchman overplayed his hand. The way the stewards review the incident, will become apparent some time after the meeting with Verstappen and Hamilton.
