Max Verstappen has responded to McLaren CEO Zak Brown’s horror movie comparison following his triumph at the Qatar Grand Prix.
“You can call me Chucky.”- Max Verstappen
Speaking to GPblog in the aftermath of his race victory, the Red Bull Racing driver responded to the comments by the McLaren CEO with a cheeky reference to the horror movie franchise Chucky.
“You can call me Chucky. Is that short enough for you? I don’t know. I saw it as well. I thought it was quite funny,” he said.

Verstappen went on to stress that, ultimately, he focuses only on what he can control.
“From my side, I just focus on myself. I know that when I go in the car, I just try to do my best, like I guess everyone does. But that's the only thing that I can control, right? And that's the only thing that I, of course, focus on,” he concluded.
Earlier, ahead of the Qatar race weekend, Brown had likened Verstappen to a horror movie villain, someone who often rises unexpectedly just when opponents think he’s out of the fight.
Verstappen proved the comparison fitting with a dramatic victory, snatching the win from under McLaren’s noses and cutting their championship lead to 12 points with one race remaining.
Verstappen lauded the Red Bull Racing team after his win under the Lusail skies. The 28-year-old praised the team’s resilience, stressing how they stayed in the title fight despite the massive deficit they had to overcome.
With the season finale in Abu Dhabi approaching, Verstappen heads into the last race with a chance to claim his fifth consecutive Drivers’ Championship following his dominant performance in Qatar.
