Max Verstappen has revealed one of the drivers who likes to party on the Formula 1 grid.
"Nico (Hulkenberg, ed.) liked a party. There were also a few other drivers who liked a party."- Max Verstappen
At Grand Prix weekends or back home in Monaco — where most drivers live — some drivers meet up off the track to celebrate results or other occasions.
Verstappen explained who picks up the bill when he goes out with the team or fellow drivers. "If we go out with the team, the team or I pay," Verstappen told Sky Sports DE.
After the Monaco Grand Prix, Williams driver Alex Albon owed George Russell a meal, and the Thai-British driver picked up the bill himself.
When meeting other drivers on the grid however, under regular circumstances, it usually goes differently, the defending world champion explained.
"When we went out to dinner with the drivers, everyone usually paid for themselves," he continued.
After big results, drivers not only go out for dinner but also celebrate with parties.
The Dutchman said about himself: "I didn't party that often."
After initially shying away from naming anyone about who parties the hardest, he did reveal a single name: "Nico (Hulkenberg, ed.) liked a party. There were also a few other drivers who liked a party," Verstappen added.
The German had a special reason to celebrate this year as well, as at the British Grand Prix, he scored his first ever Formula 1 podium.
