Max Verstappen was able to put in a superb qualifying lap that brought him 0.248s from polesitter Oscar Piastri, and which was good enough for P3. Nevertheless the Dutchman was not out of the woods, given a Stewards investigation into the Dutchman’s on-track behaviour.
According to the Stewards, the Dutchman was driving unnecessarily slow around Circuit Zandvoort during the ongoing Saturday afternoon qualifying session that saw him pip P3 standings rival George Russell with a sterling last-lap effort.
Said effort was not in real danger of being thwarted given the fact that this offence rarely carries a harsh penalty with it.
