Last year, the Miami Grand Prix was the turning point for McLaren's 2024 Formula 1 season. Could the same happen this year?
Lando Norris took home his maiden win just one year ago at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.
Can Norris win again?
Max Verstappen started the race in pole position, which he held until he pitted on lap 23. Lando Norris started sixth and was able to slowly make his way to the front and take the lead after the safety car was deployed on lap 27 due to a crash between Kevin Magnussen and Logan Sargeant. This left him in the front as the driver in front of him had decided to pit earlier on.
His well-played safety car pitstop allowed him to take home his maiden win and stand on top of the podium for the first time.
Verstappen and Charles Leclerc joined Norris on the podium in second and third places, respectively.
Max Verstappen currently holds the fastest lap record, which he set in 2023; however, Oscar Piastri set the fastest lap in 2024.
Can Lando Norris repeat 2024 and take home his second win in Miami? Only two people, he and Verstappen, have won at the Miami International Autodrome. Or can Piastri extend his championship lead?
