It's clear as day that the 2025 Formula 1 season isn't going as Max Verstappen would have liked. While McLaren drivers are fighting an internal duel for the world title, Red Bull Racing is mainly hoping for a win here and there. The dominance we've seen in recent years from the four-time world champion is no longer the case, but according to a former Ferrari man, it makes total sense.
Red Bull has lost many important employees over the years. Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley have switched to Aston Martin and Kick Sauber respectively. Even former team boss Christian Horner had to make way for Laurent Mekies prior to the Belgian Grand Prix.
Gino Rosato was a guest on the Pitstop podcast and shared his insights on the exodus at the Austrian team. "[Jonathan Wheatley] I think he's won like 20 this crazy amount whatever.
"So Jonathan knows his shit and I think it was his time to go lead as a team principal and together with Mattia Binotto and all this. These guys are good. The both of them excellent. That was a big loss," the Canadian started.
The former Ferrari employee then discussed the loss of Newey and Horner. "Adrian Newey I can't speak for him, but I think huge political environments don't fit in very well [with him]. That could be one of the problems.
"[For] Christian it was time to go. I don't know what happened there. It's really none of my business.
"If someone decided to send him home I don't know like what are you going to tell Christian Horner he's done an incredible job," Rosato analyzed somewhat surprisingly.
Yet the Canadian was hardly surprised by the general decline within Verstappen's team. He concluded: "These dynamics change. We had this at Ferrari. Every team comes apart. I think every empire sooner or later starts falling apart.
"We had this at Ferrari. We had this at Red Bull. We had this at, you know, Ron Dennis is not here no more. All these all these big names [go]. Sooner or later."
Rosato previously made a statement about Jos and Max Verstappen. From these statements, it appears that the Canadian is hugely impressed by the Verstappen family.
