Max Verstappen managed to win the world championship in the past four years. The Dutchman had to concede much to the dominance of McLaren in the first half of the current season. In a conversation with F1.com, he looked back at the 14 races in 2025 and ahead to 2026.
Verstappen indicated he believes in Red Bull Racing and praised his team's mentality. ""The team has gone from of course winning championships before I arrived, to when I arrived, a bit through a rebuilding phase, and then we really hit the peak again of winning championships.”
Verstappen sees similarities with the situation then: "Now I feel like [it's] slight rebuilding.
"We're still of course a very strong team, but I do think that to make again a step up, there's slight rebuilding or restructuring maybe, and understanding a little bit more what's going on, and that of course takes a little bit of time, but hopefully not too much time."
Verstappen was full of praise for his team. Although he is having a difficult year this season, with Horner's dismissal and a difficult-to-drive car, he sees that Red Bull is capable of leading the way back
"I think that's also a bit the mentality of the team [to fight back from a dip], it's always been like that, so I'm not too worried about that."
Currently, Verstappen is enjoying the summer vacation, with almost his entire family present.
