In 2024, Charles Leclerc was finally able to break his fabled 'Monaco Curse'. The born and bred Monagasque was the first native Formula 1 driver to win the Grand Prix in 93 years.
One of the more well-known tracks on the Formula 1 calendar, the Monaco Grand Prix has been a staple since the early days of F1. The Glitz and Glamour of the Principality is something no other track has. Last year, Leclerc was finally able to achieve his dream of winning his home race in the iconic city of Monte Carlo.

How the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix unfolded

Leclerc started the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix on pole after putting in the fastest qualifying lap on that Saturday. Monaco is very dependant on qualifying as it is difficult to overtake.
He got away from the line quick enough to retain his starting position. However, a red flag was waved before the first lap was complete due to a three-way crash between both Haas drivers and Sergio Perez.
Carlos Sainz did not have the best of luck either, as he had to limp back to the pit lane after a minor collision with Oscar Piastri. Nevertheless, when the restart order was announced, Sainz started back in third place instead of 16th.

While waiting for the race restart, most of the drivers went ahead and changed their tyres. The top four, both Ferrari's and McLarens, started on mediums and were able to switch to hards.
That was their only pitstop for the entire race.
This year, for the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix, a mandatory two-stop strategy has been put in place.
Leclerc again had a great start to his race and pulled away from the pack. When he finally passed the flag, he was seven seconds ahead of Piastri. Sainz also retained his position, making it a double podium for Ferrari.
Leclerc made up five positions during the Imola Grand Prix, with his teammate making up eight. Could Ferrari make the Monaco Grand Prix podium this year?
