It's been a hectic Friday at Zandvoort with several session neutralisations and early retirements. But one scruffy moment in particular involving championship leader Oscar Piastri could have dire consequences for the Australian driver.
Following Lance Stroll's crash, Isack Hadjar's DNF and Alexander Albon's crash, George Russell and Oscar Piastri had a near-miss moment.
Entering the pitlane, Piastri looked set to box, however, it was not his crew expecting him, so the Aussie driver veered back into the fast lane of the pits.
However, little did he know that Mercedes driver George Russell was also making his way down the pitlane at that precise moment.
What followed was a close call between the two as Russell was forced to lock up and take evasive action to prevent contact from taking place.
Mercedes team principal and CEO Toto Wolff enquired as to the nature of the incident on the radio, to which Russell replied with the facts of the event. The incident was then noted by the Stewards, in what could be a title-altering incident.
