McLaren executed a great Grand Prix with Lando Norris, who managed to win for the first time since the Australian GP. Zak Brown was over the moon with a double podium finish in the Principality. Following the conclusion of the Grand Prix, McLaren CEO Zak Brown was explaining it was a stressful one for McLaren in Monte-Carlo.
"A bit sticky right now, but I'll take it any day of the week. What a great race. Charles drove brilliantly. Max was was awesome. And of course my two guys were, and the strategy was great. It was an exciting race. Maybe a little bit more exciting than we would have liked, but I'm sure it was good on TV," he began to Sky Sports, praising the top 4 of today.
Norris managed to win his second Grand Prix of the 2025 season and his sixth overall in the competition, while
Oscar Piastri finished in third position behind
Charles Leclerc.
"It was great. It was pretty much a perfect weekend. Couldn't be happier. Big day for points for everyone. Excited to win Monaco, it's the big one," the American continued.
As a result, now only three points separate the two McLaren drivers in the standings. "I reminded Oscar, I know you're bummed you finished third, but you're still leading the championship. So it's going to get fun the second half of the year, but they're up for it and I'm excited to see them race."
Brown on the mandatory two pit stops
According to American, even as the Top 4 did not change at all in the end, it was still a difficult race with the new rules as well. "Kind of the usual Monaco if you'd like even if the results on the timing sheet kind of look the same. But the stress on pit wall, getting through the traffic, then having Charles catching, Max. So I think it was much more exciting than the usual Monaco, even if the results on the timesheet kind of look the same."
During the final laps, Verstappen held up the eventual podium finishers behind him, waiting for a pit stop. Brown then explained Norris told him Leclerc could have made a move. "I talked to him there, he felt the pressure. There was a few spots there where you felt Charles could have maybe lunged them, but he kept it clean. And as I said to him, man, you'd have no idea how stressful that was. You should have been in my seat."
