Mercedes make announcement for 2026

There had been huge amounts of discussion surrounding who would be driving for Mercedes in 2026 throughout the season, with Max Verstappen having been rumoured to be a potential replacement if George Russell did not re-sign.

However, after the Dutchman committed to Red Bull for 2026, everything looked to fall into place for Toto Wolff and his team.

The Austrian therefore announced that there would be no changes to their lineup for 2026, meaning Russell and Kimi Antonelli will be back behind the wheel of Mercedes next season.

Verstappen to have a change to his RB21

It has been a much different season to what Max Verstappen has been used to in recent times after winning four world championships in succession.

The Dutchman currently sits behind Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris in the drivers' championship, seeing the McLaren pair race away from him with their dominant pace.

For the upcoming Italian Grand Prix, there will be a change for Verstappen in the hopes of closing the gap, with a special 'Monza-only' rear wing coming to the 27-year-old's aid.
