After a quarter of the Formula 1 season has been completed in 2025, the season continues with a tripleheader. This weekend, the grid is set to visit Imola, where the 2025 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix will take place.
Entering the seventh round of the season, the European season is set to begin in Formula 1, as during the upcoming tripleheader, the drivers and teams will compete in Monaco and Barcelona after the weekend in Imola.
The first stop will be in Italy, where during the previous season, Max Verstappen managed to win after finishing only a second ahead of Lando Norris. Charles Leclerc completed the podium for Ferrari.
While in 2024, McLaren were the underdogs who first showed their potential in Miami, this year, the Woking-based team dominated in the state of Florida during the previous weekend. Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris finished in P1 and P2 respectively, and the Australian crossed the finish line more than 37 seconds ahead of George Russell.
Can Pirelli's tyre selection also favour McLaren this weekend? The C6 tyres will make their debut in the competition, which is the softest compound created by the Italian tyre manufacturer. During flying laps, the question is whether each team could keep the tyres alive, similarly to how the Woking-team based team have been doing so far in 2025.
In terms of the standings, Oscar Piastri leads by 16 points ahead of Lando Norris, and a further 16 points ahead of Max Verstappen.
