At Monza, everything is set for the start of the second session, after teams and drivers spent the morning familiarizing themselves with the circuit and car setups.

While the first session was mainly used to fine-tune the cars, FP2 is expected to provide more meaningful insights, both for single-lap pace and, especially, race simulations.

Ees are naturally on the championship battle between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, with every session now potentially decisive for Sunday’s results—and, by extension, the title.

The Australian currently holds a significant points advantage thanks to his teammate’s retirement at Zandvoort, but Norris has still shown he can match Piastri and, at times, even be quicker.

There’s also keen focus on Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, both looking to bounce back in front of their home fans after Ferrari’s double retirement at Zandvoort for different reasons.

Hamilton took himself out by crashing into the barriers in a bizarre incident, while Leclerc was forced to retire early following contact with Kimi Antonelli, who had made a misjudgment.

On an extremely fast track with some of the highest top speeds on the calendar, the SF-25 is expected to perform better than it did on the twisty Dutch circuit, with Ferrari also buoyed by the support of their home fans.

It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in qualifying simulations, and more importantly, who shows the best race pace—though McLaren’s superiority remains clear.

To clear up any doubts, we just have to wait for the green light: FP2 gets underway at 17:00 local time and can be followed on GPBlog starting one hour earlier.
