After a chaotic Saturday at the Circuit of the Americas, the weekend ends with the United States Grand Prix. Follow all the action with GPblog below!
It was a crazy Saturday, to say the least, in Austin, Texas. First, Max Verstappen won the Sprint, finishing ahead of George Russell and Carlos Sainz.
Not only that, but McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri made contact into Turn 1, taking both out of the running and leaving them empty-handed.
As a result, Verstappen did good business in the standings. The Dutchman gained eight points on both McLaren drivers. He now trails Piastri by 55 points.
Positions | Drivers | Points |
P1 | Oscar Piastri | 336 |
P2 | Lando Norris | 314 |
P3 | Max Verstappen | 281 |
Lance Stroll was also handed a five-place grid penalty for Sunday’s race after causing a collision with Esteban Ocon in Turn 1 towards the end of the Sprint.
Despite not being able to complete his out lap in time at the end of Q3, it did not matter at all: the Red Bull Racing driver will start from pole position again at COTA.
Norris completed the front row, although he finished around three tenths behind the Dutchman.
Piastri continued to have a difficult day, qualifying only sixth behind both Ferraris and Russell. He will line up alongside Lewis Hamilton.
The 2025 United States Grand Prix begins at 20:00 BST (14:00 local time). Follow all the action above!
