For the second weekend in a row, Yuki Tsunoda failed to score points after being eliminated early on in Qualifying. Team principal Christian Horner reacted to the Japanese driver's Grand Prix as well, where he failed to reach the Top 10.
After changes to his RB21 with a new rear wing and changes to the setup, Yuki Tsunoda started from the pit lane instead of lining up as the final car on the grid on Sunday.
Tsunoda was also on a three-step strategy prior to the Safety Car, similarly to Verstappen in Barcelona, and also had the medium tyres for briefer period. "Because at that point it was clear he wasn't making any headway through traffic. Best thing is pit him, get him in clear air, let him try," Horner told GPblog among others after the race.
"And again, actually, that safety car screwed his race as well at the end there. He would have probably been very close to a point by the end of the race. If you look at the trajectory that he was on and the degradations that the others were having, he was on the better tyre and had more pace than the cars ahead," he explained.

Horner says they have some work to do in the factory

Reacting to Tsunoda's challenging weekend as a whole, Horner added: "We'll go through with Yuki back in the factory and try and unpick this weekend because it's been a tough weekend for him from start to finish."
Following the Spanish GP, Tsunoda himself said that he already felt the car was not working when he left for the formation lap: "I mean I already felt from the lap to grid, but yes. Unfortunately we weren’t able to make a step that's the level that we want."
Since joining the Austrian team replacing Liam Lawson, the Japanese driver has scored 7 points.
