After qualifying, there was once again much ado about Max Verstappen's penalty points. The Dutch driver abruptly ended a question about his penalty points and exploded in anger afterwards. The world champion received ample support, and Viaplay analyst
Christijan Albers also backs the Dutchman:
‘'I agree with him. If you hear the same questions on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, at some point it’s just enough'’.
Verstappen indicated to the Dutch press after the press conference that he was done with the questions: ‘'It’s just childish. I find it a waste of time, I really have nothing to do with it. They probably have nothing better to ask. It’s just getting really annoying.’'
Albers expects a great advantage for Verstappen at the start of the race
While much was discussed about the incident at the press conference, Albers looks forward to the race. He saw a fantastic qualifying and sees that Verstappen is in a good position:
‘'He starts on the right side [of the grid].The clean line. So let's also hope for a good start, because he needs it. Then you can keep Russell behind, let the others drive in dirty air and manage your tyres better.’ Besides Russell, Albers sees another dangerous challenger for Verstappen.
Oscar Piastri could make a big impact, partly because the McLaren driver still has several sets of the medium tires left, while Verstappen and Russell used these during qualifying.
‘'That's what the drivers also say, those[medium tyres] move less and are more stable in corners. On the other hand, it gives McLaren extra yellow sets for the race. You just see that the Red Bull is super strong on the straights. Over a single lap, they are fantastic,’' concludes the analyst.
