A weekend to forget in Italy for the two Aston Martin drivers. In Monza, Alonso didn’t finish the race and Stroll got lapped, while Mike Krack tried to give his view on what happened to the Spaniard’s car.
On lap 24 of the race, Fernando Alonso had to retire from the Italian Grand Prix due to a technical issue on his Aston Martin. The AMR25 suffered from a suspension failure at the exit of Ascari chicane. Meanwhile Stroll had been lapped by Max Verstappen.
Krack told GPBlog that the team doesn’t yet know what happened to Alonso’s car: "Not yet. We have to analyse. The parts are being taken off and they will go with us in the plane tonight and everything will be analysed."
When asked about a possible clue as to what was going to happen to Fernando’s car before his retirement, Mike Krack answered: "We didn't see anything.
"It would have been easy to say it went wide or anything, but we didn't see anything unusual. And that is why I think it's important to do this kind of analysis properly before you [jump to conclusions.
"It's easy to point [to] the driver, it's easy to point [out] any kind of incident, you need to stay factual in such situations.
"What we had to do is tell Lance to be careful in that area. And that is all you can do in such a situation.
"Make sure that the sister car goes a little bit careful, even if it's not related, but that is something that you have to do. And then you have to do the analysis properly afterwards."
