Oliver Bearman is currently a Formula 1 driver for Haas. But he is also a part of the Ferrari Drivers’ Association. In an interview with the Italian branch of Motorsport, he revealed that he would love to be a full-time Ferrari driver.
Speaking about his call-up to Ferrari for the 2024 Jeddah Grand Prix, Bearman mentioned what a thrill it was to have the opportunity to drive for Ferrari.
He also mentioned how scoring points in his first race gave him a sort of false hope for driving in the future. It was not only during the 2024 Jeddah Grand Prix that he scored points, but also when he was called up to race for Haas in the 2024 Baku Grand Prix.
Bearman admits that this season has been a struggle as he can sometimes feel like he does a good job, but it is hard to see that when he is placing 12th and 15th.
Going back to his first time at the Ferrari headquarters, he said, “I remember perfectly the moment I stepped out of the garage at Fiorano for the first time. I felt a new sensation, one I'd never felt before. I'd seen Alonso, Schumacher, Vettel, Leclerc—they'd all done the same thing behind the wheel of an F1 car.”
Bearman tested in an F4 car the first time he was on the Fiorano track but he was able to truly don the Ferrari outfit. "It's indescribable what it means to wear that red overalls. It made me incredibly proud, but also totally motivated to wear it again."
About becoming a future ferrari driver, he said, “Ferrari? At this stage of my career, I'm not thinking about it. I feel I have what it takes to be a Scuderia driver, but it's up to me to prove it."
