Franco Colapinto had a severe crash this Wednesday during a test for Pirelli, but was able to get out without any problems. His team, Alpine, can now report more good news about the Argentine.

Colapinto crashed heavily on turn eleven at the Hungaroring on Wednesday. Photographs showed his car was heavily damaged after a significant impact. Medical staff have checked the driver and declared him ok.

Colapinto back behind the wheel

Alpine has now let GPblog know that, as expected, Franco Colapinto has gotten back into an F1 car during the afternoon session. He is making his rounds in the A523, the 2023 car. This is being done as part of a Test of Previous Cars (TPC). Pierre Gasly drove this TPC in the morning.

It is unclear whether Gasly was able to get into the repaired Alpine of Colapinto to complete the Pirelli tire test for 2026.

However, it is clear that Charles Leclerc is doing his scheduled test. The Monegasque is on the track with Ferrari. On Tuesday, it was Racing Bulls that - together with Alpine - participated in the tire test.
