Bernie Ecclestone has little faith in a resurrection of Lewis Hamilton. The former owner of Formula 1 already called on the Brit to quit Formula 1; now Ecclestone is even topping that.
Hamilton made the switch to Ferrari, as he saw the best chance to win his eighth world title at the Italian racing team.
However, the reality is that the Brit is currently far removed from championship form. He is not playing a role in the championship and generally has to admit defeat to teammate Charles Leclerc.
With the new technical regulations coming into play in the sport in 2026, Ferrari hopes to have a competitive car - a car that enables Hamilton to participate in the fight for the world title.
It is no secret that Hamilton has trouble mastering the current generation of F1 cars, which already troubled him at his previous employer Mercedes.
Perhaps the 2026 car suits Hamilton better. But actually winning the eighth championship, Bernie Ecclestone does not see his fellow countryman doing. "The safety car will win a race before Hamilton becomes world champion again," is Ecclestone's brief expectation, as read via F1-Insider.
