Paul Aron, Alpine Academy driver, will take over from Pierre Gasly during the first free practice session for the Mexico City Grand Prix.

The Estonian driver will make his fourth FP1 appearance of the 2025 season having driven Alpine's A525 in Monza and Sauber's C45 at Silverstone and the Hungaroring.

Reacting to the news, Aron said: “I'm looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the A525 for my latest Free Practice 1 session with the team.

“I enjoyed the experience in Monza a lot and found it incredibly useful for my own personal development as a driver and my understanding of the car."

Looking ahead to his outing in Mexico Aron hoped to build on his previous incursion, although he is aware the unique challenge the Mexican track poses.

"I'm ready to build on that this weekend in Mexico City in Pierre's car.

“The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a very different track to any I have driven.

“It is high altitude which will make the handling of the car and the setup we choose very different to most other circuits and I'm looking forward to that challenge," he concluded.

Gasly and Nielsen react to Colapinto incident

In the late stages of the United States Grand Prix Pierre Gasly, the lead of the Alpine drivers placed P14 with his Argentine teammate Franco Colapinto right behind in P15.

The team issued both drivers instructions to hold position until the chequered flag. However, Colapinto disregarded the orders from the pit wall and overtook Gasly in what he alleged was a defensive action prompted by the potential attack Gabriel Bortoleto could mount on both French cars.

Since then Managing Director Steve Nielsen and Alpine lead driver Gasly have addressed the matter.
