Lewis Hamilton endured another forgettable outing at the Dutch Grand Prix. The British driver has now shifted his focus to bouncing back ahead of the upcoming Italian Grand Prix in Monza.
The Scuderia Ferrari driver left Zandvoort probably with the worst feeling he has felt since stepping into Maranello. Hamilton, who headed into the race off the back of an underwhelming race last time out at the Hungarian Grand Prix, witnessed his race at the Dutch dunes unfold in a manner far worse.
The 40-year-old, who had largely struggled through the weekend, witnessed his race come to an abrupt end as he suffered a crash on the 23rd lap of the event — shortly after he had suggested a pitstop strategy to his team over the radio. Hamilton, who was aiming for an undercut strategy, would lose control of his car as he approached turn 3 amid light drops of rain on the circuit.
The crash for the seven-time world champion marked his first DNF since his seismic to the Ferrari team. However, following the race, he took to his social media to react to his outing.
Sharing a post on his Instagram, Hamilton admitted how tough his race was to take, but detailed how he is keen on bouncing back. The British driver, however, concluded with a congratulatory message to rookie podium finisher Isack Hadjar.
“A result like today is tough to accept, but there are plenty of positives I’m focusing on moving forward. We made improvements with our approach, and the changes implemented are clearly showing progress. Although we’re not yet where we want to be, I’m confident we’re moving in the right direction. To my incredible team, I’ll leave no stone unturned to recover the points lost, and my determination to fight for us won’t waver. Now, it’s onwards to Monza, where our passionate Tifosi will be waiting — can’t wait to see everyone there.
And well done @isackhadjar on your first podium - I’m so happy for you and your family!”
Lewis Hamilton’s outing at the Dutch Grand Prix has stirred reaction, with the Italian media dubbing it a ‘dark Sunday’ for the Brit and the Ferrari team.
