Former Michael Schumacher manager Willi Weber has compared the seven-time world champion to Max Verstappen.

“Max is more of an instinctive driver, making decisions on gut feeling and almost always getting it right”

Interviewed by F1-Insider, the German's former manager — who also got to know Jos Verstappen well, back when he raced alongside the seven-time world champion at Benetton in 1994, believes that “Max is more of an instinctive driver, making decisions on gut feeling and almost always getting it right.

On the other hand, “Michael did everything deliberately; every move was calculated.”

However, Weber also believes the two share two key traits: “Both have sacrificed themselves one hundred percent for their success. They’re not glamorous showmen living for the spotlight. They were and are athletes, not Hollywood stars. Their achievements have always served the sport.”

Verstappen notices change in Brazilian fans since fierce Hamilton battle

The Red Bull driver pulled off another remarkable comeback in Brazil, just like a year ago when he recovered from seventeenth on the grid to win the race in torrential conditions.

This time, however, Verstappen, who started from the pit lane after replacing his power unit and completely overhauling the setup of his RB21, managed to climb back up the order once again, finishing third.

Following his impressive performance at Interlagos, Verstappen also noted how Brazilian fans’ attitude toward him has changed since the 2021 season, during his first title fight against Lewis Hamilton.
