With the Miami Grand Prix weekend edging closer, GPblog can now bring you the latest news roundup from around the F1 world on Wednesday, April 30. The Mexican Grand Prix's contract has been renewed until 2028, Lewis Hamilton has been given a grim Ferrari forecast by Johnny Herbert, and F1 announces a new musical venture to accompany the release of the upcoming F1 film. Announced on Wednesday, Formula 1 and the Mexico City Grand Prix's organisers have agreed to extend the Grand Prix's spot on the F1 calendar for another three years.
The Mexican Grand Prix is held at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The circuit hosted its first Grand Prix in 1962, a non Championship race, before returning next year as part of the calendar. It returned in 2015 after leaving the calendar in 1992. Due to the pandemic, the Mexican Grand Prix was not held in 2020, but has been ever since.
Former FIA Steward, Johnny Herbert has issued a stern warning for a 'past his prime' Lewis Hamilton, and outlines 2026 as the Briton's last shot at getting his 8th title.
Lewis Hamilton's start to the season has not been the best, with the British driver being outclassed by teammate Leclerc, on a daily basis since the Chinese Grand Prix and onward. Something to do with age, Herbert believes in conversation with a betting site. “I think 2026 is Lewis Hamilton‘s final chance at getting the eighth championship. He’s 40 years old now, is he in his prime? No. Has that prime passed? Yes. Is he still really good? Yes."
