Max Verstappen finished in third place, ahead of the surprise of the day, Isack Hadjar. When asked about his chances into Turn 1, the rookie explained after the session to GPblog among others that he expects the four-time world champion 'to overtake off the line, if anything.'

Talking to GPblog, Red Bull external advisor Helmut Marko also reacted to Verstappen rounding off the Top 3 on home soil.

"[Nine tenths behind] This morning and now we are only two tenths [behind], so I think that puts us in a position to make McLaren at least nervous tomorrow."

Looking ahead to the start on Sunday, he continued about whether Verstappen will have the chance to overtake. "Yes, why not? We know what Max is capable of, but at least we are there."

The Dutchman was investigated after the session for exceeding the maximum time limit between the SC2-SC1 lines, but received no penalty afterward. Find out why that was the case here!

After a disappointing qualifying session in Hungary, Lewis Hamilton made his way back into Q3 in Zandvoort.

The Briton commented: "We're looking for progress and I feel like I have had that this weekend. I've not been in Q3 for some time. So I'm grateful for that."

Andrea Stella is wary of Max Verstappen

"First thing we have to do in the interest of the team and in the interest of Lando and Oscar is to make sure that we beat Max, who is not very far, he was two tenths away from us," McLaren team principal Andrea Stella said, answering a question about whether his drivers' strategies could be different on Sunday.

"It will be interesting, not only between the two McLaren drivers, but also with the other drivers. Max, for instance, he has a new soft that he saved from qualifying. And it could be a pretty powerful weapon, if you can deploy this weapon strategically at the right time."
