Speaking via the team’s press release, Vasseur admitted how underwhelming performances have been over the last two race weekends before expressing optimism about a turnaround for the weekend in Austin.

After two street circuits, we return to a permanent track at COTA, which offers a very interesting mix of corners. It’s a layout that demands precision from everyone, the team in terms of set-up and the drivers in feeling at one with the car.”

“The weekend will be even more challenging with the Sprint format, giving us just one free practice session before heading straight into competitive sessions.”

“We know we haven’t maximised the potential of our package in the last few races, but the team is united and fully determined to turn things around.”

Vasseur and the Scuderia Ferrari team boast fond memories of racing in Austin. During the 2024 edition, the team wrapped up a fine one-two finish, with Charles Leclerc clinching victory and former driver Carlos Sainz finishing in second place.

Vasseur challenges the media amid Ferrari’s difficult run

Earlier, Vasseur explained that he knew his time at Ferrari would come under intense media scrutiny when he took the reins of the Maranello-based team. The 57-year-old, who spoke in a recent interview, touched on the challenges his side has faced throughout the campaign.

The Ferrari team principal highlighted how McLaren’s consistency has also proven to be a decisive factor throughout the 2025 Formula 1 season.

The Maranello-based outfit are currently experiencing one of their most challenging campaigns in recent times, with just five podium finishes in the 18 races held so far in 2025.
