"Ferrari had their chance and blew it," a race win in a season dominated by another team doesn't come a-knocking twice", and more. The Scuderia's Hungarian GP, in light of Charles Leclerc's SF-25 issue came under fire. For Ferrari's boss Frederic Vasseur, however, it is simply a lesson in the potential his team has.
When faced with the times they'd lost pace in the season in an attempt to mitigate the skid plank's wear, and the possibility of this being the case again with Leclerc, Vasseur responded with authority to GPblog and others.
"Yeah, once we lost the pace [in those instances], we lost two or three tenths.
After the race the Monegasque stated that the issue lied somewhere in the chassis. This led many to believe that Leclerc was referring to the skid plank wear problem Ferrari has been facing since the beginning of the year.
Answering to the enquiries, Vasseur was once again clear.
"When he says chassis it's because when I say chassis, it has nothing to do with power unit.
"Now we don't know exactly what's happened that we had the car still in park fermé and it's a bit early stage," stated Vasseur, unwilling to jump to any conclusions.
After the race, Leclerc believed Ferrari had squandered its sole chance to win a race in the 2025 season, a statement Vasseur himself corrected.
For the Frenchman, aside from the pain of the tough loss, lies also a revealing exhibition of Ferrari's potential to win.
"The good side of today is that it means that when we are putting everything together we are able to do the pole position and to lead the first 40 laps."
Then, everything is possible, Vasseur concludes. "If you are able to lead the first 40 laps you can go to the end."
