Currently McLaren stands as the common denominator being 11 of the 14 race wins this season in total. Courtesy of Mclaren's vast technical superiority embodied in their MCL39, but also thanks to drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, who've earned stellar praise from their boss Andrea Stella.

McLaren have not lost a race since Canada, when Mercedes' W16 in a freak showing of remarkable potential carried George Russell to his, so far, sole win in 2925, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli to his first ever podium.

Since Austria, though, it's been McLaren dominating every single F1 track with an iron fist. Attributable to their technical prowess? Sure. To their drivers' skills? Most definitely.

Stella compares Piastri and Norris to Schumacher and Alonso

At least according to team principal Andrea Stella that is.

Speaking to media like GPblog the Italian praised his drivers with a striking comparison to F1 legends, Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso.

"The question is about the quality of the drive. Very, very, very high quality," he said in description of Piastri's race win in Spa-Francorchamps.

Having worked at Ferrari for the majority of his tenure in F1, Stella got the chance to work alongside the likes of Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso, drivers with multiple championships to their names, and self-made legends of the sport.

He believes, McLaren's driver lineup are in the same league. "Like I said before, we have two drivers which, to the standards that even myself, in my career, I've been close to, driving with multiple world champions.

"I think Lando and Oscar are operating at that level, at the level of deservedly being in contention for the drivers world championship."
