Lewis Hamilton's run as a Ferrari F1 driver has not been the smoothest, something he is accutely aware of as revealed in the 'tears' his summer break assessment will entail.
Contrary to the fanfare prior to his debut with the Scuderia, success has not been on Hamilton's side so far this F1 season. The Briton, though, is not to be blamed as Ferrari's current F1 car has been plagued with issues.
At Silverstone, Hamilton broke his longest podium-less streak in his F1 career with the weekend at Spa adding yet another race to his tally of now 15 consecutive Grand Prix out of the top 3 at the flag.
Speaking to media present in Hungary including GPblog, when asked if that tough stat entered his mind, he said: "Of course it does. I think about it every day."
Delving into his recent run of seasons in F1 Hamilton revealed his current campaign at Ferrari stands out.
"The last god knows how many seasons have been hard in their own way. This one has definitely been the most intense one, I would say, just from a work perspective [alone]."
So far Hamilton trails teammate Charles Leclerc by 30 points, with the Monegasque being the only podium scorer for the Scuderia, proving the potential for said results are in the car. Overall, a tough pill to swallow for the Briton.
"I definitely need to get away and recharge, be around the kids, laugh, let go. I'm sure there'll be some tears at some point and I think that's really healthy."
"I think for everybody, particularly the guys at the factory, they'll definitely enjoy this time with their family and then we'll come back extra energised for the second half," concluded the 7-time world champion.
