Hamilton needs to focus on just this thing from now on, claims F1 analyst

F1 analyst Peter Windsor broke down Lewis Hamilton’s challenging Hungarian GP, where he was eliminated in Q2 with the 12th fastest time—while his teammate secured pole position—and ultimately finished the race in 12th.

For Lewis Hamilton, the Hungarian GP was a weekend to forget quickly—adding to a long list of disappointing results that, after 14 races, still see him chasing his first win, podium, and pole position with Ferrari, which remains a distant goal.

Despite having won eight times and starting from pole position nine times at the Hungaroring—more than anyone else—the Brit couldn’t get better than 12th in qualifying, while his teammate surprised everyone by securing pole.

Another tough weekend for Hamilton

Analyzing his tough race, F1 analyst Peter Windsor commented: ''Not a great weekend at all for Lewis Hamilton. At least in Spa he had a decent race on the back of that horrendous qualifying session.''

''So Lewis will go into the August break having given an extraordinary interview yesterday and it looked like he was almost in tears, saying, 'I did a terrible job, I'm not doing the job, they should get another driver.'''

According to Windsor, Hamilton should have thought twice before uttering those words: ''It's a quote that for a guy, a seven times world champion on the retainer that he's on, to be doing this, is to be saying this, to be feeling like this, even if he was saying it sarcastically and it's got taken out of context, you shouldn't be saying things like that.''

''He should be not answering the question for a start if that's the answer that he is going to give.. And beyond that, he needs to be thinking why he is not driving as well as he should.''

Hamilton has to only focus on driving and nothing else

''In my opinion it's all to do with the brand, the money, the whole thing that started at Ferrari of dressing up in the black kit and the F40.''

Finally, Windsor concluded: ''Instead of just being ultra-focused on just being a racing driver at Ferrari, trying to strip yourself of all that stuff, just enjoying the privilege of being at Ferrari, enjoying your driving, enjoying your racing, and be nothing but a hyper-focused racing driver with none of that other stuff going on.''

''That's what he needs to do over the August break. He needs to strip all that other stuff away.''
