Lewis Hamilton is aiming to give it his all as he looks to help himself and the Scuderia Ferrari team achieve an impressive result in front of the tifosi.

The British driver even admitted to being open to revisiting a strategy previously used by the Ferrari team to achieve the desired result the Maranello-based outfit needs in front of their home fans.

Sharing his thoughts with GPblog during the Italian Grand Prix media day, Hamilton was asked if he would be willing to give a tow to teammate Charles Leclerc during the final stages of qualifying.

Hamilton, who reflected on the idea, explained that he wasn’t entirely convinced by it. However, he stressed that if it meant helping Leclerc secure a front-row start, he would be happy to play the role.

“A tow? Yeah. For pole, let’s say? No. I know that Ferrari used to do it many years ago. I remember when I started, at least, I noticed Kimi and Felipe used to do that often. I’ve never really… it can be beneficial, but in my past, it felt like there was more risk, and often one person had to be sacrificed for it. So I’m not sure whether they will do that this weekend. It’s not been discussed.”

“But if it meant getting Charles there, then I would be happy to play that role.”

Hamilton faces grid penalty for Monza race

While Lewis Hamilton ultimately admitted to being ready to play the ultimate team game, it should be noted that the British driver is set to serve a grid penalty at the Italian Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion was handed a five-place grid penalty for failing to slow under a yellow flag last time out at the Dutch Grand Prix. While Hamilton admitted he was shocked by the harsh penalty, the 40-year-old stressed that it only fuels his motivation for the Grand Prix on Sunday.
