What does Lewis Hamilton needs to comeback in his best shape? Joylon Palmer gave his advice to the 7-time world champion.

Lewis Hamilton appeared to be “spiraling into doom at the end of that first block of the season,” according to Joylon Palmer at the podcast "F1 Nation". The former F1 driver and commentator pointed out that small things are making a massive difference.

For Hamilton it's all about motivation

“The outcome of running around trying to get one solitary point in Budapest could have been a podium battle in Hungary had he managed to just put in thousands that he was out in Q2 and then the Ferrari car, the wind changed and the temperatures seemed to be much better.”

Palmer also highlighted the importance of keeping Hamilton motivated. “Leclerc wasn’t finding it easy in Hungary qualifying and then he put it on pole. But it’s, I think, keeping the motivation at the moment for Hamilton.” He acknowledged that Hamilton will naturally be frustrated with his performance. “Because he is getting on, he is going to be frustrated at this performance and on paper it looks so bad for him, but I still believe he has a huge amount of talent in there.”

The focus, Palmer believes, should be on rebuilding confidence through consistency rather than chasing immediate magic. “I think he just needs to get a role of solid races. Don’t necessarily look for the magic in the first one back, but just get back to solid Q3 appearances, get into a position of fighting again with the Mercedes and the Red Bulls and get that confidence back because that’s what looks to have gone missing a bit.”
