Last week, Max Verstappen surprised friends and foes alike by racing under a pseudonym, Franz Hermann, on the Nordschleife. Nico Hülkenberg was asked whether he had ever driven on ‘The Green Hell’ and if it was a problem to do so during an F1 season.
In discussions including GPblog, Hülkenberg mentioned that he sees no issue with Verstappen testing on the track: ‘’It’s a natural circuit, he’s a professional driver. I see no problem, it’s his passion, He loves racing in GT3 cars, so I see no issue.’’
Hülkenberg himself has also taken a number of laps on the lengthy circuit. When asked by GPblog if he wanted to do more, he was clear: ‘’Absolutely. The Nordschleife is the toughest circuit in the world, because it is so long and has so many different turns. Also, the weather is different on each part. It’s super ‘tricky’ and challenging. It’s definitely something I would want to race on after my career if I were looking for adrenaline,’’ concluded Hülkenberg with a smile.
