After his debut win last weekend, Max Verstappen will not return to the Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) today.
Between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix, Verstappen returned to the Nordschleife for his debut GT3 race two weeks ago.
Verstappen qualified in third place, but took the lead immediately heading into the first corner. The Dutchman drove a two-hour stint before handing the car over to his teammate Chris Lulham. The Brit then secured the duo's first victory.
This weekend, the final, tenth round of the NLS season is taking place, but Verstappen is "taking a break," while his team is competing in Barcelona.
Immediately after his victory, the Dutchman talked about wanting to return to the 'Green Hell'. "We really want to race the 24-hour race, here at the Nordschleife. If that’s going to be next year, I don’t know yet. Of course we need more experience, so hopefully we can enter a few more NLS races next year."
In an exclusive article, GPblog reported from the circuit that the defending F1 world champion is not registered to compete at the final round that takes place today.
At the Singapore Grand Prix, Verstappen explained that he will not compete this weekend.
"I'm taking a bit of a break. After this weekend [in Singapore] I've done six weekends in a row, so it's quite a bit," he said.
Verstappen's streak began at the Dutch Grand Prix after the summer break. Since then, he has participated in four F1 Grands Prix and two NLS rounds.
Meanwhile, the #33 Verstappen.com Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 is currently competing at the season finale of the GT World Challenge Europe.
Lulham and Thierry Vermeulen are competing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The duo already secured the Gold Cup title in the series.
