After starting from pole position, Charles Leclerc finished in fourth place at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Monegasque driver also sees that possibly, this was their biggest chance to win this season.
On Saturday, it was the Ferrari driver who set the fastest time. However, he finished in fourth position. Leclerc also explained he had issues over the race, taking back what he told Bryan Bozzi over the team radio, saying it didn't come from what he thought was the case.
Similarly to Max Verstappen's verdict on Saturday, talking to GPblog among others after the Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver explained he doesn't expect to be able to add to his eighth victories already achieved in F1 under normal conditions.
"I'm not sure. I don't think so. I think they are the strongest team out there and even today they were very, very fast," he began.
"I think on a track like this (the Hungaroring), what gave me hope of winning is that we were starting first and with the dirty air, it's a struggle to get past, which I think Oscar was probably at a bit more pace than me but couldn't overtake."
Therefore, not being able to convert on last Sunday makes it even more difficult for the Ferrari driver.
"I don't think we are going into the second half of the season thinking that we can win anyway and that's what makes the frustration even bigger, because we knew that this was one opportunity probably over the season and we had to take it but unfortunately with this issue we couldn't do much."
