Ahead of the 16th round of the Formula One World Championship, 'the big four', McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull have submitted their upgrades to the FIA, which the governing body has now revealed.
McLaren proved once again at Zandvoort that the MCL39 is the class of the field. With the Autodroma Nazionale di Monza presenting its own set of challenges the team has opted to go for a transformative update approach, with one single new development to be added as performance.
For Ferrari Monza couldn't come sooner. After the double DNF suffered last week at the Dutch Grand Prix, their home race by excellence presents the chance to redeem themselves in front of their adoring tifosi. The Italian Grand Prix also marks Lewis Hamilton's first Monza outing in red.
Red Bull is currently finding their way back to the top, albeit if in Zandvoort they appeared to return to the place they were occupying at the start of the season as McLaren's closest pursuers, they are still a long way off the papaya coloured team and they still struggle to understand their complex RB21. To the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza they have brought the most performance upgrades out of the top teams.
Mercedes doesn't lag behind, though. Although the Brackley-based formation has managed to win a race this season, one of the three teams to do so, their performance has also been up and down in 2025. For the Monza race weekend the team will premiere an update package which they hope will bring them closer to the podium scoring places.
