Lando Norris knows he has a huge opportunity today to take the lead in the championship, given his teammate’s starting position.
“I’m just excited to go race, excited to have some fun here in Mexico City.”- Lando Norris
When asked during the drivers’ parade how he feels about the chance to regain the championship lead — something he hasn’t done since the opening rounds of the season — the Brit replied: “The same as every day. I’m just excited to go race, excited to have some fun here in Mexico City.”
Finally, when asked if he plans to celebrate “Mexican style” should he take victory today, the Brit added: “No, certainly not. Not this year. I sleep and I go home — but I’m going to celebrate. I always like it here. I’ve partied here in the past, and it’s a great place. So maybe, maybe next time.”

While Norris will be aiming to hold onto the lead off the line, his teammate will look to fight his way forward from seventh — rather than the eighth place he secured in qualifying.
That’s because the Australian benefits from Carlos Sainz’s grid penalty for his collision with Kimi Antonelli at last week’s United States Grand Prix, which drops the Spaniard to 12th. Max Verstappen, meanwhile, will be looking to put pressure on the McLaren ahead as he starts from fifth on the grid.
Here’s the final starting grid for the Mexican Grand Prix.
